New York, New York – January 10, 2025 – Hof Law, a dedicated advocate for veterans' rights and healthcare access, has officially notified the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), and the City of New York's Department of Veterans Services about a glaring disconnect in policy implementation regarding secondary health insurance for veterans. This issue directly impacts disabled veterans who rely on the VA's Veterans Health Administration (VHA) for primary healthcare coverage.
In our ongoing commitment to support and empower veterans, Hof Law has identified a concerning discrepancy. While the VA encourages veterans to seek secondary health insurance to complement their primary VHA coverage, HHS has indicated that veterans covered by the VHA may not be eligible for additional secondary insurance. This conflicting guidance creates confusion and potential barriers for veterans attempting to secure comprehensive healthcare coverage.
